Sound dampening is comparable to a traditional over-ear non-ANR headset. I feel that their product is also a bit overpriced. The audio is okay, I think their advertising is a bit misleading and implies that the audio quality is superior to regular headsets, which (in my opinion) is not the case. It's nice for pulling G since it weighs next to nothing and it's quite compatible with glasses/sunglasses. No problems with ear/pressurization issues but I'm generally at 5000' or less when using it. I use a Clarity Aloft on a regular basis for aerobatics. Depending on what you get done it'll run you about $100-200, but well worth it if you use it much. They can do a number of modifications that will not only significantly improve the sound dampening of your helmet, but will also increase airflow, fit and comfort. Take your Gentex and send it to Oregon Aero. Flying with the Helmet is much better then just a regular head set. It was a bit annoying - every flight putting in the ear plugs but it worked out really well. The ear seals really did not cut down enough of the sound, so I used ear plugs while flying and just turned the volume up. When I was flying the L-19 I was given a Gentex Helmet. Its that guy who showed you a thing or two in the Citabria. Any other options? Any opinions on which to get? Also, will there be a problem with air pressure in the ear during climbs and descents? Thanks. I've heard the Clarity Aloft is quite good, and the Lightspeed Mach 1 isn't that great. I was considering ordering an in-ear headset. My David Clark gel seals are the wrong size. Also with my glasses on the seal is so bad that I get feedback squeal from the ANR system at low airspeeds. The ear seals on the headset aren't very good and the aircraft doesn't have any sound deadening material in the cockpit.
